JULY 11, 2002, SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, HOSTED BY CISCO SUMMARY OF WORKING GROUPS TASKS AND CONTACT INFORMATION WG1. Requirements Immediate Tasks: 1. Write a short paper (one page) that provides definitions for the following terms: Harmonization, Convergence, and Interworking. Provide these definitions to 3GPP/2 as an information document. Ask our Operators to bring this paper in. 2. Take 3gpp/2 requirements documents and harmonize them. Provide this paper to 3GPP/2 as an information document. Ask our Operators to bring this paper in. 3. Write a paper on the following questions: Do requirements cause divergence or do solutions cause divergence? Provide this paper to 3GPP/2 as an information document. Ask our Operators to bring this paper in. 4. Ask Vendors and Users to provide additional input in the 'harmonized' requirements document, and maintain it for 3GPP/2. WG2. Architecture Immediate Tasks: 1. Maintenance of the MTR-004v2 will be the responsibility of this group. 2. Joint work with WG9 on the MTR-010 document (clarification and extension of the applications and services layer of the architecture). WG4. IP in the RAN Immediate Tasks: 1. OPEN RAN demonstration will be owned by WG4, but will be a joint effort with WG10. 2. The group will meet via teleconference and create a 2-page document that will outline the parameters of a demonstration of the Open RAN for the membership and others. 3. The group will immediately lead the effort to gather member/companies for this demonstration via publicizing on the MWIF exploders and through other opportunities. 4. Sreen will make calls in particular after reading MTR-007 and Parviz will identify the 'soldiers' for Sreen; when these persons are identified the group will hold a conference call for all these potential participants, plus the TC leadership team. 5. After the completion of this document, the group will ask the MWIF BOD to review and possibly provide support for this effort. 6. The group will immediately begin work on a journal paper based on the MWIF NRA architecture - in particular, Telcordia may have a person to work on this effort. WG9. Application Services - Cost and Complexity Interim chair: John Waclawsky, Cisco, . Immediate Tasks: 1. Cost and complexity through the University Challenge Program. 2. Applications architecture will be the subject of a white paper. The document may eventually act as the introduction to the MTR-010 document. 3. Ownership of the document is with WG9. Joint work with WG2 on the MTR-010 document (clarification and extension of the architecture). WG10. Proof of Concept Chair: Biplab Pramanik, Telcordia, Immediate Tasks: 1. Organization of the demonstration of an OPEN Mobile Wireless Internet Architecture. 2. The group will meet via teleconference and create a 2-page document that will outline the parameters of a demonstration of the NRA for the membership and others. 3. Wen Pai will adjust the demonstration process slide. 4. Find out by querying via email from the membership if they are interested in additional possible demonstrations/plug fests, etc. 5. Discuss/determine the WG role in facilitating these said demonstrations. 6. Cooperate with the Marketing committee to develop marketing plans for identified demos. 7. Define the terms of reference that the group will use. 8. OPEN RAN demonstration effort will be a joint effort with WG4.
